Approaching the landscapes, population, and stories of my country
of origin, the video installation discusses the concept of a homeland,
but also tells about leaving home and how it affects the development of
one’s identity. I am the House combines scenes of family life with scenes
of abandoned houses. The contrast between the presence and absence of human
existence raises a number of assumptions about what has happened to the inhabitants
and opens up room for further interpretation.
